What size is my rear end?

It would be an 8.6, not an 8.5. The only difference is the size of the carrier bearings, the ring gears interchange. In 99 they changed the ID and OD of the carrier bearings. The internal parts of the case, and the case itself are different for the stock parts. If you were to buy an Eaton it would be the same for 8.5/8.6 because they upgraded the bearing size on their units years ago, which is why they needed a special bearing for 98-older vehicles. They are both 30 spline, unless the 8.5 is 88 and older, which are 28.

Thanks for the info....

Do you have any idea which bearings (as in a part #) that I will need?

Off the top of my head I think it is 2- LM603012 and 2- LM603049. I will try to double check that tommorow.
