My buddy just had a torque converter put on. He has the 2003 SS silverado.

He had his new PCMforless tune put in... It ran fine yesterday (transmissionwise)

And tonight the engine light popped on and his rpm's wouldnt go above 2000 and

the truck would barely moved.. So we went to Autozone and the scanner said

he had a Shift Silenoid Stuck Open.... What exactly is that... and will it hurt

thing to keep running the truck? Its driving fine now and only did that not

moving deal one time but the light it still on?

The solinoids on an electronicly controlled transmission receive signals from the PCM to open and close the fluid hydraulic passages that control the transmission.

 

What size stall did he get?

When I went from my 3000 to a 3800 stall, it would throw the PO757(I think) shift solenoid stuck-on code. It is a limp mode the trans goes into when the PCM detects too much converter slip. It holds the trans in 2nd and 3rd gear until you clear the code. You have to turn that code off in edit or have your tuner do it, and it won't happen again.

 

it is a yank 3000 with transgo shift kit and corvette servo

 

It usually happens with stalls bigger than 3000, but I've heard of it happening with a 3000 before. Find out the exact code, and get it turned off with a tune.

 

just have auto zone reset the code and you should be fine mine did the samething 2 weeks ago i reset it and its been fine since just something in the air i guess because xfactor had the same code about 2weeks ago lol reset his and haven't heard from him that its back on later,kevin
