Default What gears

4:10 or 3:73?

I have an 03 tahoe with 22" wheels. 5-7 drop... Needs to stay daily, and will soon be getting heads, cam, and blower....

What gears are better for my application..still my DD. And will be doing long distance road trips. So fuel economy is a factor!

Thanks guys!

I have 22s on my RCSB. It had a 3.42 gear in it and I went with a 4.10. My fuel mileage is better now b/c the truck doesn't shift in and out of passing gear on the slightest little of inclines. Now it takes a pretty good incline to make down shift. Make sure you get the speedo recalibrated for the gears or your mileage will be all screwed up.

Might as well just go with a performance tune, it will be better all around. I recommend Wheatley. He is doing mine.

I'd say 4.10 gear. If your tire is over 29" tall, you'll be ok. I have a 27" tire with 3.73's and got 17 mpg the last highway trip I did, drove 75 the whole way (200 miles).

I just got some 3.73 on my CC with an Eaton Locker and it feels much lighter I havent really stepped on it because i still need to wait for them to break in but its a noticeable difference from my old 3.23 and dont forget to get you a custom tune check out Wheatley hes a sponsor here>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I will probly have ARD tune the truck because they have done some stuff on my camaro...

But as far as 4:10 VS 3:73......

Seems like 4:10 is winning....

But what is the dif? will one give me more lw end than the other? or will one give me more highway thanthe other???

If you're getting a blower soon, you'd be better off with the 3.73 gears. FI gives you tons of torque, you won't need a lower gear ratio. I can do rolling burnouts at 40 mph with 22's, with ease. 4.10 for NA or racing, cool.

4.10s will definitely help you out on the low end. But if you are planning on FI 3.73 might be a better option.

I should finally get a tank of gas where I didn't go WOT a lot. So I'll try to come back and post my MPG with 275/45/20's on ECSB cam'd 5.3 with 4.11's.
so far i'm at 244miles at 1/2 tank.
But I have been running late to work and doing 70-90 while easing into it.
