What Broke? Trans, stall or solenoid? All the above....

Ok so this is my 00 rcsb stepside.
Little history for like 6 months or so the stall has randomly not wanted to lock and did so late by about 10mph and harsh....like a WOT 1-2 shift harsh with a shift kit and all three washers kinda lock. It would do this very randomly though.
Fast forward week and a half ago. I notice in 1,2,3,4 the tranny is making a horrible whining sound like gears screaming but much louder and it got louder or quiter based off peddle.
It didn't seem to bother anything just started whining?
Also note as soon as the converter would Lockup the sound was 100% gone.
Fast forward yesterday i take off and notice no whining sound. Nothing.
Drive around at least 40 miles or so. Once i'm finally headed home it's back same suound same volume you name it.
Since the sound appeared i had been feather footing it to keep things under control cause i had no money to fix anything atm.
Anyway today i drive to work go to leave and it's kinda jerking a bit and not wanting to move and the high pitch squeal is much louder.
Drop it to first manueally same thing maybe worse. Bump it into 2nd same thing but it will go.
So i extremely featherfoot it to lockup point.
Come to a stop sign take off SES light loud whining but she makes it past 1-2-3 and into 4th....thinking just lock up and it's ok we are almost home...no dice.
Lockup didn't happen.
Got it home and ran the code and came back with
PCM-P0756 2-3 Shift Solenoid Valve Performance
No first or Second gear (ses)(old history)(current immature)
If selector is in D it doesn't shift into 1st or 2nd as well...guess that could be the solenoid though?
So what do you guys think?
Tranny toast? Just the stall? Just the noid and caused the problems?
Are all of the above get a new tranny/converter?

I know that p0757 is just a DTC that occurs with a higher stalling torque converter. I've gotten the p0757 about 20 times and just delete it. I haven't had time to change it to ignore in EFI Live.
Hopefully your problem is a similar one.
EDIT-That's also not to mention that the transmission will engage itself in 3rd gear and stay in it until the code is deleted.

I figure the lockup was from the code but that def. won't get my tranny up and running properly....just hope it's something easy and not the whole thing went boom.
Ever since i took it to the track like a year ago i drive it pawpaw style cause it's just my work truck these days.

Hate to break it to ya, but it sounds like that trans is toast.
I'm not sure on what it is, but something is jacked up. What does the fluid look like? How many miles are on it? Sounds like a planet went out.

I'll have to hear this to believe you toasted another when the "other" one ain't right yet.
You have HPT, right? Turn the key to "on" (without starting), and use VCM scanner to turn each solenoid on and off. You should hear a faint clicking sound. Depending on what version of HPT you're using, each option is clearly labeled. I think the A & B can be clearly heard. If memory serves, you have to listen hard for the 3-2.
But... whining sounds aren't good. Check the 'noids first. Post up afterward.
