Default went from SS3600 to PI3000

These converters are built basically the same ie, single lockup clutch, billet 9.5" cover etc... But when thinking about a motor swap last fall I figured why not change converters while I'm in there...

I wanted a lower stall speed since my Yank 3600 was a little high once I got into boost good (46-4800 flash) I figured a 3000 would be right near where I wnated. And happened to get a smokin deal on a brand new PI 3000...

First impressions: well honestly normal driving, out of boost they feel identical to me. Lol, I haven't gotten above about 3psi yet due to breaking in the new motor slowly, but it acts just like the Yank did lol... It locks up a TINY bit firmer, but nothing drastic...

Anyway, I thought this would be a noticeable difference and figured the 3000 would drive a lot more like stock but it feels the same as the 3600, maybe even a hair looser lol... Yank has a 2.5 STR, the PI has a 1.9 STR if I'm not mistaken, I'm attributing it to this mostly...

Just some info if anyone is considering something similar...

And if anyone didn't know, this is on a front mount 70mm turbo truck, had a 5.3L with the 3600 and a forged 5.7L with the 3000. Both with an FLT-5 65E vacuum modulated trans. If you want anymore info about the comparison, just gimme a shout

PI's are considered underrated. The 3200 is generally accepted as comparable to a 3600 yank. But my question is, why is the str so low? I figured PI could build it to whatever STR you wanted. But yeah, I believe the reason people feel Yank's are so tight is because of the high str

Yeah, I knew the STR is much different but I didn't figure it would make that much of a difference... Either that, or this new motor is just making that much mo-powa....
