Default Vig 3600 installed...questions

guys i install the 3600 today on my stock truck with a 3.73 gear. I know its a lot of converter for a stock truck, but i am putting the 224/228 cam in this weekend.

Anyhow it feels like it is slipping through the gears and seems like it doesnt want to shift. What does this mean? It is gonna get tuned again, but will a tune fix the way it feels like it is slipping?

shift kit or not? light throttle in my car and the verter seems like it slips some. Its sloppy on the shifts in other words with no shift kit. WOT it shifts crispy and good though. How is your's WOT? Vig's have anyways had some slippy feeling in them to me. Espically behind a 4500+ pound truck. Its a big stall for a truck though:-P perfect for a car

it is without a shift kit. i dont htink the truck is that heavy maybe 3700? I assume that is heavy. So i guess the weight makes it stall a little higher or feel slippy? at wot it feels good in first, hits second pretty good then about mid second it just feels like it slips. I cant tell i am gonna let my tuner take it for a ride tomorrow.

Does the truck need to be tuned for a huge stall? Or can you just swap in a 3000 stall and exspect it to be ok????? My truck is doing the same thing, I just installed a 3000 stall tonight and it seems like it does not want to lock up, only at high speeds.

A Precision 3600 is way too big for a truck their 3600 stall usually will stall to about 4000 rpms on a stock truck. I had one in my Camaro so I know how loose they can be. I would remove it and have it restalled down to a 3200 stall at the most. What size converter is it? 9.5" or 10.5"?

with a big stall like that and no shift kit, the stall will absorb a lot of the shifts.

it is the 9.5, the truck is getting heads and a cam this weekend. also the truck only weighs about 3700#'s. but i will see how it does after the heads and cam. you all are right though it feels more like a 4000 stall. oh well.

Is it a single or multi disc? PI does not recommend going with a 9.5" converter in any truck your going to burn out the lockup on it. Its justs too small to handle the weight of the vehicle, 3700# is light for a truck but not light enough. I would go up to a 10.5" or make sure you have a triple disc 9.5".
