Default upgraded shocks

any good shocks out there for road handling? the only other things i can think of are sway bars and sticky rubber cause its a 4x4. i want to keep the stock ride hight for winter time. though i would like to be able to take a fast on/off ramp here or there without understeering all to hell.

thanx man glad someone chimed in. you'd think that more people would know what's up considering the limited choices for 4x4's try'n to take a turn on dry pavement. this truck is a dream on the highway until its time to get on or off it then its all about the brakes or you're heading for the grass.

i read something on this site a while back about how the edelbrock shocks make a 4x4 truck handle like a dream on the street....im setting my truck up for street driving as well....the only reasone i drive a 4x4 is because of Alaskas Winter......and the 6f or so of snow we end up getting..theyr not to expensive...ill probrally be going with the edelbrocks after i have my bushings and ball joints replaced....ordered the parts this week!...

There have been mixed reviews here about the edelbrocks.I know a guy that put a set on his SS silverado,he took them off within a week,he said they were garbage over re-peted bumps, they had a opposite reaction to a series of bumps ,the truck would spring up.The guy is kind of a technical guru and trust his opinion.

the edelbrocks are GREAT shocks... I have doetsch techs on mine cause its dropped and they handle pretty good as well... I have never heard complaints about the edelbrocks though. the variable valving makes them good on the street or whenever you need faster, longer travel.

I'm happy with my Bilstein HD's...my truck doesn't handle like a Corvette or anything, but considering that I'm currently riding on 33" AT's it feels pretty decent.

I just lower my 4x4 2/4 and it sticks to the road a lot better, and I am still running bridgeston dueler a/t's for a few more weeks.

I know what you mean by understeer, it sucks, but I have figured out of to work my truck to avoid it, and now I dont even have to worry about it when I'm mobbin'. I think id **** my pants before this thing lost traction, I want to take it on an autocross coarse here at Boeing and see how she does after the new wheels and tires.
