2wd trucks with converters and gears are a **** to hook up without a turbo. I can only image big power with 2wd, gear and converter. I'd stick with the 3.42's for sure, but wouldn't run anything over about a 29 1/2" or 30" tire.

Im gonna make a few passes with the 4.56's and see how it goes. I'll be running 29" slicks at first and then to a 30". if it doesn't load up I'll move down to 3.92's or back to 3.55's.
Thanks guys

So with a turbo you actually need to go with a lower stall rating?

I was planning on going witha 3600 for my 6l/sts gt67 setup with 3.73s and 30" tires

well if I had a turbo in a rcsb I would go with 3.23 gears and a 2800 stall, and with an ecsb truck I would go with 3.42 gears and a 3000 stall, reason in the diff of trucks is weight rcsb in street trim 4500-4600, ecsb 4900-5100 stock 5psi turbo would be 5psi off the line and be able to mantain the same psi through out the run, now if you add the 26" slick or et street, then your only going to see about 3psi due to final gear ratio, good luck.

your 3600 stall will help you boost up at the line but would put you in a 5200-5500 rpm shift after going from 1-2 shift or 2-3 shift not enough load on motor to help the turbo spool up.

Turbos love load but if you are worried about lag time on a DD then a higher stall may be a good thing in that situation. I know in my situation, manual tranny, that lag time manuvering around in traffic is pretty bad. An auto trans with a 3000 or so stall would be able to instantly increase exhaust flow and limit lag. Key is having a good balance with a DD I suppose.

Something that hasn't yet been mentioned is that the 3.42:1 gear set you have puts 20% less torque on the differential and axle shafts than a set of 4.10:1 gears would. The pinion gear for the 3.42 is much larger and makes more contact with the ring gear than the smaller pinion in the 4.10:1 gear set.

You pulled an awesome 60-foot time on a 10-bolt rear end and it LIVED. I think you have a good thing going right now with the 3.42:1 gears.
