Default turbo 350 swap

I know this isn't the first time this question has been asked, I've used the search bar and cannot find the answer to my question, i have a 01 5.3 rcsb I'm tired of pulling the 60e and don't have the funds for a 80e, but i have a few turbo 350s laying around, i know i have to put the 5 speed tune in and need the flywheel spacer and prob make a new crossmember, but my question is, will a long tailshaft not require me to cut my drive shaft? thanks everyone

I've only heard of a short tail and a long tailshaft, I've read somewhere before that one will work but forgot which one

the th350 is shorter, but not sure how much. long tailshaft might make up for it. i know going 5 speed to th400 is same yoke and driveshaft lenth. you can get a 4l80 for a couple hundred bucks. i paid $220 for the flywheel and spacer to go old school tranny.

i work for a towing yard and we got parts laying around but no 4l60s or 80s, I've done this swap before in a 98 ls1 camaro. you can reuse the stock flex pate just gotta drill your own converter wholes and get the spacer

I am not bashing you, but typically people go to a stronger trans. Someone that did an actual actual swap to a TH 350 may be difficult to find.

The Long Shaft TH350 will be your closest bet.

This is the first thing that pooped up in a google search.

Reference Manual: Chapter 2: Transmissions: Transmission Lengths

Good luck with swap!!! Hope this helps

i'd go w/ th400 over the 350. going from the nv3500 to th400 (4"tail) crossmember and driveshaft were the exact same. don't know about 4l60 tho.

thank you that answered my question, the reason behind the th350 choice, i work for a towing company, i traded out a few tows for a built th350. manual valve body shift kit and stall. i would swap in a th400 but i don't have one laying around wished i did

The 9" tailshaft th350 will be almost the same length. The 12" tailshaft is frm an rv and not desirable. Irc the 9" tail is like 1/4-1/2" shorter than a 4l60
