Assuming your talking bout the difference between 4l60e and 4l80e.1st to 2nd gear ratio transitions are diffrent the 60e almost always rips second where the 80e dosent have such large gap between ratios. This is where on the shift the 80e dosent have to pull the rotating mass down as far to be in the next gear.

60e 1st.3.06 2nd 1.63 difference is 1.43
80e 1st.2.48 2nd 1.48 diffrenece is 1.00

Rino how you like the ss4000?
I jus got mine in my camaro and it is the single best mod I've ever installed other then fi.Speaking in terms of all out performance.

I was just talking about the converter install only. Going from a stock verter to the yank 3000, no more ripping second.

I always had my shift timing at 0, 0% TM, stock pressures (well built trans), and shifted my setup at about 7000 for all shifts. Always worked great.

Oh,ok I got confused in your first post you referenced the 2800 in the 60 used to rip 2nd.
No matter what going to a bigger converter results in less harsh shifting from my experiences. You could monitor trans input to output rpm to check for slip.I know efilive has the pids for that not too sure bout Hpt though.

a big converter works like a rubberband. put your truck in first and crusie from a stop like 1/4 throttle and around 4,000 rpm shift it to second. yourll feel the old hard shift again. it just absorbs it

I did some tranny tuning last night, removed adaptive shift learning, increased line pressure a bit, few things that Rhino recommended. It spins them pretty hard going into 2nd now. I'll have to get a video sometime.

Cool! Shifts should be crispy now...lol. Now if I can find out how to keep my converter from locking at WOT..... I did some tuning today as well. Do you have a problem with yours locking in 3rd at WOT no matter what you do with the lockup tables??

No, never had a problem. I just set WOT lockup to like 318mph or whatever it is. What does your TPS say in your logs? Mine reads 83% at WOT, so I made sure to account for that in my converter WOT lockup table.
