Tru Trac install few questions.
#1
alright so im upgrading my carrier with the tru trac.
I read on the gear install that i need new ring gear bolts.. where do i get these?
i found these torque specs.
Ring gear bolts torque on 89lb ft.
Bearing cap bolts torque on 55lb ft.
Rear Axle housing cover bolts torque on 30lb. ft
I also have studs for the bearing caps, should I use the recommended specs for regular bolts?
TIA

If using the OPTIONAL Bearing Cap Stud Kit do the
following:
A.
Working one cap at a time, break both bolts loose
then remove one bolt. Install stud and torque the stud into the
housing 10 ft/lbs (120 in/lbs). Install washer and nut finger
tight. Repeat for the second bolt on the same cap.
Then
torque the nuts to 60-75 ft/lbs for TA1815 (GM Applications),
or 85-90 ft/lbs for TA1816 (Ford & Dana Applications)

Just An FYI the ring gear bolts are reverse thread. Be careful not to shear them off when removing them.
ARP has new ring gear bolts. I am sure any differential shop could get some standard replacements as well.
HTH!
