Tru Cool install questions

i had a trans put in and had the Tru Cool put in also but the guy said he advised against the By pass valve that came with it saying Chrysler tried that for years an it didnt work ....... i had some leaks from the lines he hooked up the Tru Cool like the stock Cooler but i m thinking the Tru Cool has a internal by pass that only works in Warmer temps and that dont you need warm trans fluid hence

Just cut the lines where they go under the radiator and either put ends on them or you could etch the tube surface lightly. After you have a bit of traction on the tubing end, slide a power steering hose over the metal tube and clamp down. Voila! you now have bypassed the radiator and you have fixed your leak issue.
The Tru-Cool has to have the fittings TIGHTLY screwed in, it's a machined press fit without a rubber seal and if it's any bit loose, you will seep fluid.

I have the trucool 40k ..what I did was remove both hard.lines from the radiator and connected the hose to the hard line with the supplied hose clamps.make sure to clamp after the flare on the hard line.I dont run the bypass valve but I don't drive the truck in the winter/cold months so I saved my money.I would get it if you drive in cold months,dont want to over cool the tranny fluid,itll shift really harsh.Id say that truecools design is alot better then anything Chrysler could design lol..never heard of people having issues with the bypass valve

I would highly recommend switching to AN fittings and -6 hose. It looks super clean, and it is too easy to work on. It is an expensive swap but well worth it in the long run imo.

I have run mine for several years by routing it thru the radiator to the Tru Cool and back. I believe one or two members sell the required fittings to make it a smooth operation--use search--and I have never had a leak issue. I tow a 7600 lb car/enclosed trailer in the summer and temps never get above 180 and usually at 160F. In the winter it usually warms up to about 130F on a trip.
