Default Transmission problem. Please help diagnose.

Last night hooked my boat up at the marina (1500lbs). Pulled out into traffic and heard a popping sound. Truck will not accelerate. I coast to a stop.

I can put it all gears and the truck will not move. The drive shaft will not turn in drive and giving gas. Truck will start fine. Not throwing codes on cheap handheld. No grinding sounds while shifting in place, or while the truck was rolling to a stop.

The suck part other than my truck being broke is that i'm in the Florida Keys.

What did I break?

Please help before i'm ripped off down here.

I'm not trying to be a smartass but you broke your transmission. Nobody could really tell you exactly what is wrong by your description but it does sound like you need a new one...

poping and not going anywhere sounds like you broke your sunshell

4l60e's are known for that

but if it's still driving it could be a multitude of things

Sounds like you have a broken pump.

It sounds like forward sprag is broken. If the sunshell was broke u would still have 1st and 3rd and no reverse.

You can still move with a toasted forward sprag. I've toasted TWO of those. He would not start from a dead stop in 1st, but can start in 2nd or 3rd. Then when up above 40mph, he can upshift to 4th w/o issue. Not to be a smart-***, but that's from my experience with forward sprags.

Vince has a thought on what it could be. Given his experience, one would assume professionals of his caliber could pinpoint based on description (he's helped me learn a few things on more than one occasion). I have a question that maybe PT's trans specialist sponsors could answer... what's the likelihood of TC bolts breaking off the flexplate, or the flexplate breaking it self? Seems as if one or both those things happened, you'd get the same result with no codes reported by the PCM. Just curious to know how much drivetrain torque a flexplate & TC bolts can withstand before giving 'way.
