transmission problem

okay guys im wondering if your guys could review my story and help me out. i have a 2001 5.3 2wd suburban and my 4l60e transmission went out at 128k and got it rebuilt and since then to 151k it has had problems with clutches and stuff and been rebuilt 4 times and had a vacuum kit put on it. im at 151k and it has a 3/4 clutch burnout and they told me they can sell me a whole new transmission b/c the housing could have a leak or a crack somewhere but it is also a rebuilt one. and my extended warranty is either going to cover it or not im waiting to here from them some time this week. so the conclusion is that if warranty tells me to fu*k off i have to either get it rebuilt or get a new transmission that is rebuilt b/c like they said might have a crack somewhere.. do u guys have any idea if a crack could cause a tranny to fail and also if the vacuum modulator should be kept on or take it off could that effect anything??
ps: i dont really tow or tear the crap outta my car also

Bad builder IMO if he can't get it right to begin with. I would seriously consider going elsewhere if I were you.
I had FLT rebuild my 01 Tahoe trans and it lasted over 120K of HARD driving and heavy towing.

+1 FLT. They build transmissions for a lot of members here running 10's and 11's in the 1/4 pushing 600-1000 rwhp.
I really don't think its your housing, its your builder. He's probably building it to work decent in a car and not a 6-7klb burban.
Another member on here paid a local guy like $2800 to build one for his truck and it blew up 3 times on the dyno while they had it. They finally got it to him and it lasted like a week and busted the case. Just goes to show that they didn't know what a heavy truck needs.
FLT builds for trucks every day and they have proven themselves time and time again. The customer service is TOP NOTCH.

Its really hard to tell you what the problem is without the trans in front of me. But if your going through 3-4 clutches then it is possible that the input housing is the problem. I have seen a bunch that the turbine shaft comes loose in the housing, causing a hydraulic leak. This will eventually burn the clutches. But this usually only happens when it is hot, so if he is inspecting it cold, he might not catch it. That along with a BUNCH of other things need to be inspected. But it sounds like this builder can't deliver, I would look elsewhere.
