Awhile back when I had my FLT 4l80e put in, the shop just cut my lines and extended them with rubber hoses that are directly above my long tubes. After awhile the got to hot and leaked on my headers and started a small fire on the o2 sensor.
My question is... I want to run steel braided lines verus regular hard lines. Is this possible and if so what's the best way to connect the at the tranny?

Just take the green push fitting out of the tranny. IE, use a wrench to unscrew them and then put in AN fitting that fit. I cant remeber what size, but it was a NPT piece tightened appropriately.
Thats what I did, then 90* or 45* off of there towards the front of the truck, I went about a foot and make another coupler, so that when I drop the tranny I dont have to unscrew the lines in the tranny itself. I can undo the couplers.
Like that will make any sense lol

Yes, use -6AN hose.
Use 1/4 NPSM to -6AN adapter fittings at the tranny. The 4L80e has a different rear fitting. Use these
Use 5/8-18 inverted flare to -6AN adapter fittings at the radiator.

Those, some assembly lube & other fittings. I wanted the fittings that have the nice, gradual turns not the 90*s that have that sharp turn that restricts flow.

It sure is nice when local help knows what I want & actually has it in stock.
Oh ya, I got a piece of fire sleeve & had to order another short fire sleeve. I think I'll just get 3' & then cut it into 2 pcs to 15" or 18" each to slip over AN just near the headers.

I've got -6 hose on mine too and it works great... just get the correct fittings and route the lines how you want. mine go straight from the trans, to the cooler, and back. Works great with my a/c condenser sized trans cooler

i am running a hybrid....part factory lines and part -06. the stock lines run from the trans to roughly the a/c compressor. then tube nuts and a union to AN. -06 from there to my setrab cooler. jegs has the compression to -06 or you can use a tube nut and sleeve if you have a flare tool....

AN fittings can crack the case 
Gotta be careful!
I got some cool lil adapters that connect into your factory fittings and have -6AN male threads on the other side.. Ill see if in can find them..
