Default Transmission, converter questions

My truck is a 2006 ecsb z71 5.3 with the usual bolt ons with a 220/220 112 cam and pi 9.5" 3800 triple disk.

My problem is that it surges from 45-55 mph, anything before 45 mph the converter is unlocked and it does not do it and anything after 55 mph it just stops surging. When i say surging i mean that it will jump up about 200-300 rpm and then come back down and it keeps doing it.

My tuner told me that it is nothing in the tune and that it was the cam and the converter not working together and that the TCC senses a load so it keeps cycling. He said that i would have to get a different cam or a different converter.

The TCC is set at 100% and i was wondering if anybody else has had this problem or knows how to fix it because i do not think it is the cam or the converter. I could be wrong i do not know everything. I have already tried searching for it also. I appreciate any help.

Thanks
KyleM

His credentials. J/K! The unlock speed needs to be set a bit lower than the lock up speed so it doesn't decide to unlock right after it just locked up.

I do not know the unlock speed but i will ask him next time i talk to him. So if it is set to lock at 45 but does not lock till 50 what would be a good speed to have the converter unlock?

It should lock when it is commanded, 45mph should lock at 45mph. You might want it to unlock at 40. Have the tuner ride with you and make adjustments as you drive so you can get it how you want.
