Of course! Where else would one find a .096 drill bit.

I get letter, number and decimal drill bits from a local industrial supply house.

Or you could buy a 154 pc drill set. Or I could borrow one from my neighbor who has a 154 pc drill set.

Do you suppose you could use a bit that was close rather than the exact size?

3/32" = 0.09375

I will contact Westers again too just to double check.

Bringing this back from the dead. I am about to go in and re-do my seperator plate. I dont know what the first owner set the hole size to but, 1-2 is a neck snapper at 20mph and light throttle. Only the 1-2 shift, others seem fine.

If I drop to the soft setting on my new plate will it effect the wot shifts as well? I thought line pressure increased with rpm? I think the plate is drilled to .096 right now. Its an 80E with a 2600 Vig converter, in the Tahoe.

So who runs at the.076 setting and likes it?

I personally think that you should put a pressure gauge on it first before you do anything. But what do I know?

Get yourself a 300psi gauge and connect it to the pressure port above the shifter linkage. I would like to know what the pressure is at the different throttle angles before going inside of the trans. I am concerned that your pressures might be at max line. Is the 1-2 shift the only one that is hard?

The 1-2 is the only one that is harsh. The others are firm but not overly firm. They feel like the trans you built for me. The 1-2 is good as well when I'm really on it but the part throttle low speed is like a whip.

When the truck has sat overnight and I first take off the 1st 1-2 shift of the day is pretty soft, like the fluid is colder and that is making a difference. Then 30 seconds later its hard again.

I will get the gauge and try to get some numbers. You want just low throttle or do you want some runs with a little gitty up to compare it to?
Will TPS% associated with a psi work?

I had this issue with mine the last time I rebuilt it. I dropped the 1-2 shift pressures by a "small" percentage (don't remember exactly what) from stock settings. It's a "little" softer, but you know something was done to the trans b/c it's still somewhat firm. I'm hestitant to go any further without knowing actual pressure across the board. 2-3 shift is pretty firm too. 3-4 seems LAZY-soft. Lockup is nicely noticeable.

BTW, .096 bit was used to drill out recommended holes in the sep plate.
