Default Trans problem

I just swapped out my tci converter that was in my truck to put the stock converter back in. With the tci, everything worked fine other than the lockup in overdrive. After putting my stock converter back in, now my truck will not shift correctly. If I put the truck in OD it will start in first, shift to second, then will rev up instead of shifting to drive. If I start in second it will stay in second and works as it should. If I start in OD and get on it it will start in first, shift to second after hitting the rev limiter, then when it tops out in second, it will try to downshift back into first. What should i look for? Already checked fluid level. Could there be something in the valvebody? Should I change fluid and filter? Any help is appreciated.

What type of trans? Can you list specs of your powertrain?

yeah sorry,
The truck is an 00 rcsb with 5.3 and a 4l60e. The truck has 140,000 miles. I just changed the fluid and filter, it doesn't look good. The fluid is burnt, and there were small metal shavings and clutch material in the pan. The trans doesn't shift any better with new fluid and filter. I guess I will start to look for a new tranny.

3-4 clutch pack. pull it. red eagles will serve ya better. replace filter while you're at it. i would certainly go through the trans to make sure all other parts are ok.
