Before i start dropping big $$ into cam and FI i think i need to do something about the 4L60E to prevent or delay failure.
I have enough money to do it right, what do you guys suggest?
Is shift kit/servos/cooler enough-too much? this is my daily driver too so i dont really want to give up too much cush. I like the firmness my tune is giving, a little more is ok.
Thanks!

To be completely honest, get a 4L80E is you go FI. It is a must in my opinion, or you will end paying for it in the long run like I did. $6000.00 is less than a year.
I paid 3K for my built 65E and it lasted a little less than a year. Now I'm paying 3K for the 4L80E swap and I wont have to worry about anything for a long time.
If you plan on bolt ons, a servo/shift kit, and cooler will hold you over.

Ok, so if i plan on going FI the 4L80E is the only choice? Even a "built" tranny wont hang on long with 500 rwhp? Damm. Whats the cheapest way to get into an 80? Junk yard core and rebuild or new build?
Do you think i should wait till my truck's warrenty has expired? It's new with only 6300 miles on it. Maybe i should just do a shift kit and cooler for now and wait ( i dont want to wait) for the FI?
Damm!

well id do the shft kit and servos for now since your truck is new, and when and if it starts to go bad then think about a build or swap. ive got 34,000 miles on my stock tranny, had a turbo for last 8,000 and its just now begining a slight slip, so im going to have zippy build it, he built the 4l60e in the SS silv that chevy high did with a radix, it held over 300 passes at the drag strip and countless street races with no problem, they tore it apart this month and the tranny showed normal wear, the shift kit and servos saved the trans by reducing slippage. this truck has 600 hp., what im saying is beef up yor tranny now it should last you a while and you can save for a build/swap later. just my 2 cents
