Default Tranny went boom. Builder wants 2000$ for rebuild

I have had a stroke of bad luck and fryed my tranny. Here is the part list the builder came up with. This is from his mouth over the phone. I knew i fryed it but not this bad because it was still drivable. 3-4 was burnt for sure. and it only slipped once, but it slipped hard all the way to 6000rpm going up a steep grade. (which is why i sent it in) Does seem like alot of carnage. I only have bolt ons and a tune with 35"s.

Transtar Master overhaulkit w upgraded pistons
New torqueconverter stock stall but HD components
-all new steel BW clutches
-new epc silonoid
-All shift silonoids
-Bands
-Filter-Lower sprag assembly
-cam race and roller kit (i dont even know what this is?)
-input sprag assembly
-Sonax boost valve
-Sonax 4th gear super servo
-Transgo HD-2 kit
-TCC regulator valves and sleves
-Wiring harness (supposly i fryed mine?)
-Neutral safty switch
-Pressure manifold switch
-And a vette servo which i already had lying around

At first they wanted 3600$ and I told them I way as well get a flt level 5 for that kind of money. After a while they came up with 2000$ out the door. I am still hesitant, but my tranny is in a million pieces a his shop. Is this a fair deal?

thanks ya'll...

why would you need a new neutral park safety switch, IM positive you didnt damage yours!

Look around first,

BTW for your mods Vince or Chuck from FLT can hook you up for less then 2k, and you know what you are getting!

Bro i'm in the same boat. My tranny slipped once, real bad, and BOOM goodbye 3rd and 4th. I barely made it home towing my boat. FLT will get your going to where you need to be and for $2K it'll be way better than what your guy is quoting you.

look at the FLT level 3 60e, just $1550, not bad IMO

you could even get the level 4 for under $2k

plus if you add more power all you do is send in your old trans and pay the difference in parts and you have a better built trans

do this.

Take the parts list from the FLT site for a level 4 4l65E, hand write it on a sheet of paper. Then take the list into the trans shop and tell them to quote you using those exact parts because some guy on the internet told you to.
When they come back with a $4000 quote you'll know they are raping you. Then pull out the printed page of the FLT website listing that trans with those parts for $1850+shipping and ask them why they are ripping you off.
Point blank

I shifted down to 2 and crawled home while watching my trans temp cook. I've been on the phone all day with Chuck at FLT and we're working out the best option for my application. I leaning towards a Level 5 4L60E with Billet output shaft and potentially 300M input shaft with the Vacuum Mod kit to control line pressure without having a retune for the Radix.
