Default tranny toast?

the whole part that i am asking this question, probably answers my question, but here is the deal.
at slow starts, just driving around town, when i hit the gas the motor spools for a second, and the truck kind of moves for 1/2 second, then "hits" and drives fine, it has the same sensation as if the leaf sprind u bolts were loose, but they are fine and i knot it is not the slip yolk, i have always had that problem, and this is different. the other night on the hwy i hit punched it and it dropped to 3rd, but when i let off it wouldn't switch to 4th till i completely removed my foot form the gas. what could it be?

unrelated ( i think), when the A/C is on the truck has a real rough idle, but not always, only after i have been sitting for a scond, and it is not continous, it is like randomly someone hits the engine with a hammer, but as soon as you drive away it is not a problem. i have ordered new sparkplugs and wires since they have never been replaced, bec it seems like the truck idles a little rougher than in the past, also the ac belt has never been replaced.

So it kinda neutrals for a split second? I would suspect low on oil, cracked forward accumulator piston and if this happens in second, I would say that your band is on the way out. The last part about the band I would only suspect because of what you mentioned about 4th gear.

thanks, it has about 105K, i'll check the fluid level, it seems like that, although today while driving i figured out the A/C and idle are not related, it did it while it was on and off. it also did the weird rough idle after sitting for a munite or two, then when i hit the gas it did the tranny thing, almost like the truck stumbled, so it might not be the tranny just bad spark plugs

k+n sells a kit with filter cleaner and filter oil in it you can usually find it in your local auto parts store. you can just wash it out with dish soap if you like and then spray it with filter oil

When I said clean it I meant the mass air flow sensor. Use an electronics's cleaner.

I think the longer the filter is in there, the more oil that could build up on the sensor. I'd try that def.
