I'm planning on putting a SS cluster in my new 06 1500 ECSB Vortec MAX with a 4L65E. Is there existing wiring for the temp gauge so I can hook it up?
Thanks
Jim

I just put an Escalade cluster with a NuImage Stainless Steel face on. It looks awesome and the added bonus of the tranny temp gauge. How long does it take for your tranny temps to reach full operating temp? Mine takes about 20 minutes before it reads about 160 and stays there. Is that long or is that normal?

What matters with a trans temp gauge in my opinion is it is just a warning sign when something is F-ed up. You can run normally between 160 to 220. BUt go over that 200-220ish area and you "most likely" have problems...and I don't just mean too small of a cooler problems. You'll get a feel what's right for your truck, and just keep an eye when it goes over that...towing...add a few to it for a threshold.

140 ish during normal driving but running around in the hills on a hot day and staying in D will cause that MF'er to creep up to 200. I stay in 3 in the hills and in heat. If I hammer on it on the street in tow / haul *** mode it will creep up to 150 / 60. Thats with the stock trans cooler.

freeway cruising will get me 160 or so, city driving will put me up to 190, i usually turn on my cooler fans if it gets up much higher than that. i try to keep mine under 180.
