Ok, I just got this shift kit (Transgo and vette servos) in last week and have been making fine adjustments (with tuner's help) in the tune.

When at WOT or near WOT i hear a squeel immediatly after the 1-2 shift. My tuner say's it's not unusual and no harm is occurring. Something about the bands in the trans.?

Can anyone explain what is happening?

I've heard a squeal in mine a few times. Right after the 1-2 shift at WOT and if I get on it and let off it real quick. It's the TC that makes the noise I think and have read it is normal.

 

just an observation, the squeel sound is probably comming from the serpintine belt slipping after the hard shift and with Ky after the letting off part.

 

No, actually the sound is like a squeek- a short, belt slipping sound. I am not letting off the throttle when hearing it.
Does sound like it could be the serp belt, comes right as the shift into second happens, like......1-2 slam, squeal.
Any harm being done?

 

Could be the serp belt sqeeling as teh engine rpms come down duringthe shuft, the momentum of the accessories wants to keep the belt moving, but the crank pulley is now moving slower, so as teh belt slips it sqeels.

i used to drive police cars and they always did that and it was always the belt. my truck would do it once in a while so i switched to gatorback belts.

 

Mine has squealed since my built trans and it is definitely belt squeal in my case. A fresh belt stops it for a little while but it comes back in a few thousand miles. If you want to test it, try some belt dressing and see if it goes away. After the test is done, throw out the belt and clean your pulleys cause that stuff is nasty and accumulates dirt if you leave it on.

 

If not the Serp belt?
What would too much line pressure at WOT do/sound like?
