I'm not sure if my tranny is acting up of it is just me. First off does the 4L60E only have a 4th gear OD? I notice it shifts 1-2-3-4-OD, when I put on the tow/haul mode, it just holds 1,2,3,4th gears longer, not sure if it shifts into OD or not, never got going that fast with it on. Does this sound right? The reason i'm asking is because my warranty is up in about 2 months and if the tranny is going to bomb i'd like to get them to warranty it before that period is up.

 

Are you asking if there's a 5th gear? No, there's not. Hence the 4 in 4L60E. You may be feeling the torque converter lock up and think it's another gear.

 

It has 3 gears and an OD.

 

that 5th gear you may be feeling might be the converter locking up.

 

Thats exactly what I was trying to understand. It basically has 1-3 OD being "4th" and then the TQ converter lockup. Damn electronic trans, exactly why i lock my non-lockup TH350 in my blazer.

Non-lockup TH350 .. better? Same durability and better drivability and you like the TH350 over the 4L60E?
