Default maf and tranny?????????

can a maf influence the trans to shift and act poorly? here is why i ask

i borrowed a maf off of a friend to test and see if my maf was bad. (irratic during boost) well the next day he tells me hey you can keep my maf i don't want it back. i was like ok? why. he proceeds to tell me that his truck started shifting better, faster, and less irratic ( as in shifts when it is suppose to). so i thought well maybe he just thinks so. well sure enough my tahoe has started to shift funny. won't go into first sometimes and takes time to down shift with part throttle. just acts really wierd. i need to swap back and see. but just wondering if this could be the case.

i do remember reading in some tuning forums that newer truck you weren't suppose to disconnect the maf cause it would default the trans to ull line pressure..?

I know it has an effect on the trans pressure, but not sure aobut the shifting patterns or etc....

uh...I could be wrong but as far as I know the MAF measures airflow...which could cause fueling issue but I can't understand how th trans would be affected because the trans doesn't use any airflow tables....somebody explain?

I have been running without a screen in my Maf for over four years in my 04, and took it out of my previous 1998 silverado. Also removed it in my brother in laws 98 silverado. Never had a problem.

Maybe if the MAF is no good it is causing the engine not to run right, possibly surging which could affect how it shifts and drives. I don't know. I had a foam Weapon R filter that after it got old started to release small peices of foam that caused drivability problems when it got in the MAF.

what can affect ur shifting patterns is the (tps) throttle positioning sensor..
if the tps is bad ur computer wont send the correct signal to the trans when to shift.. i know it first hand
