Default tranny slipping, I think. need help

Can someone tell me if my tranny is slipping.
Heres what happened.
I was gliding up the hill and came to a stop without using my brakes. I feathered the gas to keep me in place and then applied my brakes. When I hit the gas, it didnt go (sounded like I was in nuetral) then it slammed, though not that hard into gear.
What can I do for some preventative maintanence?
What kind of performance mods can do while doing some maintanence?

Thanks

When mine did that, it took out 1st. Be easy, and get it looked at.

You took out first?

I would like to get it looked at, I have an extended warrenty. Unfortunately I dont trust my dealer. They arent the brightest, they will end up charging me an assload just to look at it.
This is the first time this has happened.

Have you checked the fluid level in it? Any check engine lights?

I'd start there. If it's covered under extended warranty, then take to them to have them drive it. If they can't fix, they should replace the entire trans. The dealers in my area replace 'em if they're under warranty. The only time they work on them is if it's not covered under warranty.

Well, I checked the tranny fluids and its fine, no check engine lights either.

Are these signs or symptom of a tranny slipping?
Could it be something else?
My next move is to make an appointment to have it looked at.

Low fluid will cause some slippage, slippage will sometimes cause a code to pop an SES light. Did you check your tranny fluid with the truck running and tranny up to temp? If not you might want to recheck it. If it still slipping and the fluid level is good I'd take it down to the stealership and let them see what the problem may be. I'm assuming you are 6.0 and 4L80E? Not that it would be any different with the Allison, but I haven't heard of them acting up, YET......

I checked while running and it looks fine.
Kind of odd for it to happen once and not again.
If it happens again, I'll bring it in.

Mine has done it 3 times in 30k miles. Talk to my dads friend who is the service writer and he said that its normal. DOESNT sound "normal" to me. I was told that the electrics get lost sometimes and do this when you dont come to a complete stop. ??? Mine also did it all 3 times rolling like you said, like it was in neutral. Oh well its still under warranty. Let me know if you find out something different.
