Default Tranny problem.. I think?

Hi guys. I just purchased a 1999 Z71 a couple of days ago, and all was great for the first day.. But suddenly today I'm having tranny issues (I think).

Here's what happens...
With the tranny in drive, it suddenly has no take off power whatsoever and I hear some kind of whinning noise comeing from underneath the truck (at WOT from a stop). It won't even break the tires loose in any forward gear.. But in reverse it still smokes 'em. Just yesterday it was easily smoking the tires and had plenty of take off power in drive.. Its almost like its taking off in 2nd gear. And yes, the 4wd shifter is in the 2H position.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks for any help.

There is an updated program for intermittent second gear starts, but I dont think that is your problem. Is there any codes set? Fluid level and condition ok? Does the trans shift ok?

No codes set. Fluid level is good, and the fluid looks good. Shifting is fine.

The weird thing is that it doesn't do it all the time. It seems like it does it every other time I drive it, but sometimes its fine.

Thanks for your help.
