Default tranny? EVERYONE W/ KNOWLEDGE INSIDE

Ok, tonight on the way home i gave the truck about 3/4 throttle from a light shifts good no problems no noises. drive it through 3 or 4 more intersections at normal throttle. get home and there is a ticking coming from under the truck. sounds like exhaust leak but isnt. noise stops for split second when changing gears and comes back. my dad listened through the inspection hole in the bellhousing says he thinks its behind the flexplate. anyone know what it is. please help im supposed to move in a few days and im scared to drive it. thanks

Bryan

Either a cracked flywheel, or loose converter bolt(s).

I believe mine is cracked as well... does the sound change pitch with RPM or engine load? mine does... thats what I have it narrowed down to. cracked flexplate or loose converter bolt... I think if its a loose converter bolt on mine, its only one of them

You lucked out IMO.

I lost 3 60E pumps. I lost my 5.3L to a thrust bearing. Then I got the 6L. Then I lost the F-ing pump on the 80e. Took it all to a real trans place and it was discovered that ALL along somehow that freaking 5.3 flexplate made it to my 6.0 install. (loooooooong story) It was warped. The good thing about a broken, warped, or whatever flexplate is you should get a vibration from it. It should be noticable, after all, it is doing some spinning.
