Default Tranny breather lines?

Whats the breather line routing on an auto tranny? I have a breather line that runs off the top of the tranny to a T... one goes to a one way breather fitting (the little white plastic fitting in the hose) and the other goes to an open end. I know its supposed to be hooked to something since it wouldnt just be an open end hose... any ideas? Its a 4wd too.

Mine is the same way. After I did my engine swap that bracket didn't get hooked back up. I cut it odd short, fastend it to the top of the trans, left the other one where it was.. It is a vent of some sort..

Do you have a breather hooked up to the top of your transfer case? That might be it....I'm not real clear on your description of where the T is and where the two sides of the T go to.

Vent tube at top of transmission and another vent tube on the transfer case.

Yeah, I figured it out. One is for the transfer case which has its own seperate breather line and theres one line that comes out of the top of the tranny to a Y and one end goes to a breather fitting and the other end just stay open for a puke tube incase the tranny needs to puke fluid.

Bringing this back, my truck is 2wd and I've got the same thing., Breather out of the trans goes to a T and one end is vented open to nothing and the other to a white cap vent. Am I missing something?

No, if you overfill it then it will blow out that vent.

White cap goes up high for venting and as stated, overflow goes rearward, low for puking. Don't want trans fluid spraying into the engine compartment.

Don't want it all over the back of your truck or on the track either if you go to the drag strip, put a catch can on it!
