So I know that quite a few people on here have a higher stall in their trucks and they still tow. I'm looking at getting a Cirlcle D stall when I get my new trans and was wondering if I'll still be safe to pull my C-10's around on a trailer from time to time, as well as hauling loads in the bed. I have a good sized trans cooler already, but thinking about upgrading.

 

5 or 6000lb? You're pushing it but should be OK. What rear gear? I pulled 5500lbs or so with mine with 3.42s and it wasn't bad, just used tow/haul and kept it in third to stop it from shifting in and out of OD on the highway.

 

I would say it's going to be around 5500lbs. The truck has 3.73's so it will have a little more bottom end for it.

I tow with my Circle-D. I have a special tune that I can lock up the TC in either third or OD when towing. The sooner you get to lockup, the better because it stops making so much heat then. I tow over 7000lbs with mine.

 

So pretty much if I tune to lock up as soon as possible I'm golden then.

 

I have a 9.5" Vigilante in mine, stalls around 3000 and I tow my 18' trailer and 71 Camaro all over the place with no problems. I have hooked on to a buddy's 20' trailer and put my GSXR and the Camaro on it. I never towed that much weight very far, but it worked for what I needed.

 

I still tow with my 258mm Yank 3600 with no problems. Just need a good cooler.....my radiator is bypassed and I run an 11"x11" B&M cooler with an 8" fan and -8AN cooler hoses. It rarely gets passed 200 even beating on it pretty hard.

 

I have a 3200 stall and with a Dmaxx cooler it never got to hot. Crept to almost 200* in town but cooled down to 160-180 on the highway. Pulling 4500-5000.

 

How about Including Gear Ratio's and Tire Size's as there relative to the RPM range when towing at high way speeds.
