Default Torque Converter suggestions?

Im thinking of installing a higher stalled tc in my Z71 (factory at the moment).....i don't know a lot about these things and want some suggestions. I have basic bolt-on's on the truck already. I am looking for good gains in power without sacrificing driveability. Had a buddy telling me the best bang for the buck is to find a used trailblazer converter. Any suggestions? Performance gains? Thanks in advance!

First off ho much you want to spend?? A good converter will cost you 550+ new, unless your willing to run a used one. The trailblazer verter is a good cheap upgrade, stalls to about 22-2400 on a 5.3.. Next how much stall are you looking for??

It would be a good converter if you plan on keeping it stock. Do you have any plans for future mods?

Not looking to spend tons.......don't mind buying a used one if its from someone reputable and has low miles.....as far as future mods 'ill probably put some lt's on it and be done....I was thinking somewhere around 2800-3000. I have been thinking the trail blazer stalls are a little low for the gains I'm looking for.

Well you might want to looking into the yanktt series converter. They improve performance but still give towing capability, I have a yanktt3000 for sale if youre interested.

I'd go with at least a 3000 stall. The Yank TT series is a nice stall that you can still tow with.
IMO you really need a 3200 to be in a decent powerband but a 3000 will do the job ok.
A TB stall however will honestly waste gas and give very little gains. Not to mention eat up a couple mph in the high end.
I installed one for a single night. Then traded it out for a yankTT.
Took it to the track seen it was good for 1/2 a tenth in the 1/4 and i lost 3mph dropping from 98 to 95mph in the 1/4.
I also was sucking down gas alot faster. Not to mention the TB stall to get moving decent took about 2200-2400 rpm and a Yank TT3000 takes about 1800-2200 to roll out.
IMO the TB losses in every way to a good stall.

Really depends on the tools you have.
It's not real hard just takes some time the first go round really.

being a Z71 its not quite as easy as a 2wd.. but you dont need many tools..

13mm
15mm
either a 8mm allen for the TC bolts or a 15mm socket..
11mm? for the u joint
22mm for the crossmember

air tools make it alot easier!!
