You can adjust it to your liking... The main reason I do it this way is to minimize low RPM, high load TCC slip. Yes it will lock harder, but there's better chance of it staying locked up. If it's extremely harsh and locking up under mentionable power I could see input shaft damage but not likely just because it locks up nice and firm.
