tire sizes

i am looking to put bigger tires on my 1500hd stock rims. i have a small lift and 20's w/ 32's but in the winter i put on my stock wheels and want bigger tires so i can fill the wheel wells a little more. they now have 245/75/16's what size can i put on the 16's that is still safe and want get terrible wear?? what are you guys running??

so should i run a 265 or do they make 275's what is ur suggestion? i want to go the as big as i can as long as it is safe. its currently my only ride and i have a 5 month old son so i cant have any f ups with tires.

You should use LT265/75R16/E. Don't go to the 285, it is also wider, and usually a blockier tread. For winter, narrower is better. If you want really skinny but still tall tires, use LT235/85R16E.

I used to run 285/75-16's on my stock aluminum wheels before I dropped my truck, it filled the wheel wells nicely and didn't rub. My buddy now has my old tires on his 03 HD2500 Crew Cab and he's happy with them also (BFG All Terrain T/A)
