Go for the FLT, you wont be dissapointed. the level 4 60e is rated to 600 fwhp, what are your future plans for the truck?

servo has been probably almost 2 years, shift kit, and stall has been probably a year and a half.

whats the level 5 rated at?

future plans, defently keep it a 60e, i dont have the money to swap to an 80e but plans are

5.3 cammed untill i blow that up then 6.0 cammed
build or buy a turbo kit
100 shot.

none of these mods will be done this year except maybe the cam, and n20.

everything else is just me dreaming and future future plans after i buy a house. probably 2 years for the turbo, the 6.0 will be whenever the 5.3 takes a ****.

It just busted pin hole on the band I'd bet. I assume you also have no fourth.

so what does a busted pin hole mean?

what i have in the video is the last time i drove it. 3rd gear was all it went into, but im sure your probably right. it wont really shift on its own unless you let off the gas.

It sounds like it's shifting 1-3 then lockup to me which means the band is broke or burned up. If you need our help just call the shop at 630-350-7776

Thanks,
Chuck

On one end of the band there is a formed ridge where the apply pistons push against it to tighten it around the aluminum drum. The other end is fixed to the case on a steel pin that is pressed into the case. The pin meets up with a hole on this end of the band that holds it. It's not bolted or latched in, it just sits there because it cannot come off with the drum in the way... normally. That little pin and that hole is what all the torque of shifting from first to second and from third to fourth pull against. The hole in the end of the band can become oblong and stretched to the point it slips off the pin. This is usually a result of shift kits set up too firm in combination with the complete removal of torque management.
Unfortunately bands are a rotten thing to design a transmission to shift with. They're fine for intermittent use like reverse and overrun, but in the 4L60-E it is applied two different times to get from first gear to fourth. It's overworked and they just can't hold up under power.

thanks for taking the time fill me in on that. that sorta sound like what happened. i was doing a brake torque and i held it longer then i usually do. it shifted into 2nd and it was spinning like mad. looks like i will be kissing my down payment on a house goodbye and getting a new trans. better now then when i have a house payment and a broken truck.

The level 5 is rated pretty high, I assume it is over 700 rwhp. The most that has been put to one so far is 600hp/700tq and no problems. With your setup you are planning for in the future, it doesnt look like you will get that high.

Ya I agree with you 100% on the 80e thing, I am staying with the 60/65e after my 408/turbo setup. I dont want the head ache of doin a 80e swap. And Im sure the FLT will hold whatever I throw at it.
