Default those that have broken input shafts...

How much other stuff was broken in the trans? I just dropped my Level 5 4L65 this evening to find a broken input shaft. Just wondering if something else internally could have caused the carnage.

Usually the input drum and pump stator are what we see damaged when this happens. You are talking about the shaft that goes into the converter?

Yes, the inner shaft that goes into the converter. I just got an email back from my builder and they suspect it is the input drum that broke and suggest that I go ahead and upgrade to an 80. I will have to say though that this trans held up great with the h/c LS1 for over a year and a half. I think the new motor setup and adding 305 nittos were just too much for it.

That's why I had a new input drum installed and a HD input drum reenforcement kit as well as a beefed up stator shaft put in my transmission when I had it built. Hopefully, it will last a while.
