Hey guys,
I have a 2006 Silverado crewcab LT3. Its black and fully loaded with the 5.3L and its only 2wd but i never go offroad so it would stay on the street anyways. I just bought it and my plans were to 4/6 it on 22's. In fact, i already have almost everything i need to do it including the 22's. I have recently been considering lifting it instead. If i go the lifted route, i want to go with at least a 6" suspension and 35's. Id really like to get a 3" body on top of that so i can run 38's.
My questions are:
1. I dont like the rake stance on lifted trucks and i want mine to sit level. Will my 2wd sit level with the lift or is it unavoidable when lifting a 2wd?
2. How bad will the gas mileage suffer running 35's? how bad with 38's?
3. What kit would be a good lift kit to run for the suspension setup?
4. Would it be a good idea to lift a 2wd?
This truck will be my daily driver and i travel about 40 miles a day round trip to work and back. Majority of the trip is highway driving. Either way, the 4wd is useless to me because i wouldnt go muddin or offroad anyways. I like to keep my truck clean and it would be for street use only. Ive seen too many friends tear their trucks up time and time again in the mud and soon enough, their truck looks like a pile and its nothing but problems. Muddin is fun and all but im not interested in doing it in a brand new truck. Let me know what yall think. I am undecided of which route to go but i am seriously considering selling my lowering parts and wheels to buy a lift. I just wanna get some info from yall first before i do it. Thanks!!!

Go ahead and drop it man you already ahve all the stuff to do it. With 38s you are going to run into bad alignment problems and wearing out the front suspension parts plus most large tires are loud as hell going down the highway.

You left some valueable info out. Most noteably what gears you have in the truck. I'm guessing since it is a 2wd and an 06 model that the truck has the 3.23 gear. In which case running 38's or 35's, its going to screw your mileage pretty bad. Not to mention that the truck will be even more of a dog off the line. You can get the truck to sit level. I had a 1996 Ram 2WD that I lifted and leveled. I know they make the daystar coil spacers for the front to level truck although I'm not too sure if they are available for the chevy's or not, plus you'll have to see what is compatible with the lift you get. but any knowledgeable off road shop should be able to tell ya.

if it was a 3/4 ton, I'd say lift it. But since it is 1/2 you should lower it. All you will have is problems if you are gonna run 38's unless you deef up the drivetrain.
But if you do end up lifting it, go with an RCD lift. It is the only lift I would ever put on a Chevy.http://www.racecardynamics.com/home.htm

Man your truck will be a dog with the 5.3L and 38's. Go ahead and drop the beast and slap on your 22's. Some guy are tryin to decide between a 2/4 or 4/6 drop he is deciding between 9 in. of lift and 38's or 4/6 on 22's... hahaa

Taylor, I'd go with the 4/6 and 22s! I've also thrown around the idea of putting a 3" lift on my truck with some 325/60/18s. Gas mileage is around 16 now, but with a lift and big tires, it probably be around 10.

Thanks for all the help so far guys!!
I think I have narrowed it down to either a 6" suspension and 3" body for a total of 9" of lift or a full 10" suspension. Ill be running a 4.56 gear in the rear and ill probably go with a 36"-38" tire on some 20x12 rims. The is if i decide to go that route. Im looking into some prices right now to see what the cost difference will be to go up instead of down. I think chics dig the big trucks though! lol
Keep the replies coming guys! Thanks!!
