Default Think it time for some gears!!!

Raced a ecsb with 22's all he had was a tune intake and exhaust we did a 20 punch and we just stayed neck and neck till 60...

Im thinking 4.56 will help with the weight and big tires i have 4.10 now so with the 33's and the weight of crew cab hopefully it will help

Opinions welcome!!

OR just screw it and find a 6.0 i was thinkin of puttin heads on the 5.3 but im just tossin it around!!

Gears would help substantially. With your current setup (minus the 33's) in my truck... that would be nice.

Having a hard time concentrating on what I want to say because I keep staring at your avatar.

I would definitely think the gears would help you out considering your larger tires, etc.

Of course most would say go the 6.0 route, but you are pretty far along on your 5.3, maybe get some heads if the gears don't show the improvement you're after.

If after you do the heads it's still not enough, then just roll it that way while you save for the 6.0.

Yea i think im gonna try the gears dont really care about mpg i can drive the damn honda back and forth to work so 4.56 is fine...

ive even pondered lowering the 4x4 with some nnbs 20's yes it would help but i might as well trade it in on a 2wd and save the weight but im gonna keep the truck so that option is dead for now

would lower than 4.56 be too much i.e 4.88 or something or be to much

EDIT: right now with the 4.10 and 33's im at about 2100 rpm at 70 mph but then again im not really concerned about mpg

There are a lot of people running shorter tires with 4.56 gears, so 4.88's may not be too bad. I have a '00 4.8 Silvy with 4.56's and 30's and it's great.

I think that the 4.56's and 33's make a nice combo without going too deep...and they will carry over nicely if and when you go the 6.0 route. Personally I'd go with more cam and converter also when the 6.0 becomes a reality.

4.56s and 33s would be a sweet set-up..
what is the width on your 33s right now, 12.5" or 11"??
