Default Think I just dusted my tranny. Easy fix or rebuild?

Hey, I have a 2000 ecsb 4x4 with the 4l60e that I have been rather abusive to, since it is my hunting wagon. Today I lost 3rd and 4th gear as I was passing on the hi way. Would this be broken/worn parts, or possibly a solenoid or something that I could easily replace? Any input would be great. Thanks.

Oh, forgot to mention it is a 5.3 truck, 4.10s, and has had sonnax billet servos for the last 50 000 miles. Also has a torsion bar/ leaf sping lift and 35" tires (which I know are not very 4l60e friendly).

IMO, you probably smoked the 3/4 clutch pack. If thats the case I would recommend a full rebuild.

Ok, so I've been looking for a used one outta a wrecking yard and they tell me I need one from a 99 or 00. And no one seems to have one under 200k miles. But they have newer ones. What's the difference? Plugs/ electronics?

Anyone have any info on my last post? I've been driving my other truck and need to get this one fixed. I'm in between buying a used newer trans or just getting a rebuilt, since I don't seem to have a lot of time lately to rebuild my own.

That's completely false.

OP. Since you have a 2000 5.3 4x4 truck you will need a trans from a similar year body style 4x4 with V8. Say 99-07 Classic.

A 2wd trans will have to be completely disassembled to change the out put shaft for a transfer case.

A V6 trans is different and the converter will not bolt up to the V8 fly wheel.

Newer is better since it will have the updates like the revised 3/4 clutch pack.

Doesn't mean you should continue to abuse it but if properly maintained it should last longer.

The v6 4l60 is the same as a v8 4l60 nothing changes..or unless its from a trailblazer or colorado they have a different bellhousing pump and converter...And he can use a 07 08 from nnbs what the difference? And clutch pack is same on 99and later..only clutch packed that changed came in the 4l70s they added one clutch
