Default TC questions

I am wanting to put a larger cam in my old 68, and will really need a large stall. however my trans is still stock. If I go ahead with the 3600TC, and a good cooler. Will it(TC) be trashed "when" my transmission goes out?

I really cant afford the cam, TC, and a built trans all at one time.

Yes the trans failign will most likely damage the TC as well.

In the mean time grab something cheap like an FTI street brawler for $300 and have fun with your cam.

I'd also do a boost valve and servo's while I was at it... you never know that 60e may last longer than you think.

It regulates pressure the pump sends through the trans. It will help bump line pressure at higher RPM but not make it to aggressive at low RPM. Most people dont change it bc it involves dropping the pan.

or would it possibly make more of a "seat of the pants difference" to do a big converter and built tranny and then the cam down the road? Already have a small cam now.

The biggest seat of the pants difference you will feel is in the converter... so the short answer is yes.

A converter might be damaged from a transmission failure, but can always be fixed. Typically for much less than a new one costs. You will not loose the converter.

what Chris said, on a side note also depends on how severe the trans failure is, may just need a flush or crack open inspect weld back together
