so its still in the back of my head, found one 60k from a 89 pickup with a 454 for 200bucks... shifted fine worth it or not?

That sounds like a good deal to me. Back home all of the used TH350/400s were hard to find and if you did find one it would cost you $500+. Damn dirt trak guys.
