Default Starting a new project. 4.8 turbo for sled pulling

Looking for ideas.

I'm thinking 4.8
1 or maybe 2 turbos
All engine parts are up in the air. I do want to keep the stock bottom end.

The engine will have a carb on it.

The truck is 4wd Dana 60 front 14ff rear 4.56 gears lockers front and rear t400 trans probable bout a 4000 stall. I'm gathering parts for my build so looking for opinions. It's being built to go 300 ft at a time not street legal so that leaves everything up for change.

Good luck with your build, sounds like a great idea. Just curious, what class are you going to run in ? Around here gas engines have to be N/A.

You can usually hop into the 2.8 or 3.0" turbo inlet size classes with a gas motor, really depends on the sanctioning body.

what fuel are you interested in running? How high do you want to spin the motor?

If your gonna spin in the 6k+ range I'd think a S475 or a S480 with race cover would be $ cheap enough but flow enough air to get some consistent #'s. All imo of course. Of course if they're gonna measure your inlet size and keep you in a 2.8 or 3" class then start looking at a s472 or maybe twin 55 or 62/66's

I was really thinking twins in the 60 to 70 range and try and keep the engine under 7000 rpms. And yes the other motor is spinning 8200 with a stock bottom end and it works great.

Ill be running a mod gas class so they dont measure the turbo. They diesel guys around here wont let the big block, NOS, supercharged or turboed trucks run there class. I guess there afraid to lose to a gas truck.

The diesel guys use to bitch all the time about my turbo ccsb 6.0 truck. They spend all the money on new turbos, cp3's, and still get walked by a stock gas truck. Of course I had to say F'ck no to any 20k load they were always trying to pull across 4 states
