Default A/T or M/T?? That is the question

I'm getting a 6.0 and I'm going to install a turbo. I'll be boosting around 8 psi at the most. I know my 4L60E won't last long behind it. My question is, is it better to keep an automatic tranny or go with a manual? If an automatic is best would an 80E or 700R4 be best suited? If a manual tranny is the way to go, how hard is it to install a manual tranny in an automatic trans truck and what kind of manual trans should I go with? A corvette? Just wondering.

You can go either way 80E will be better than a 700r4 if you prefer an auto. If you want to go with a manual you want a T-56 6 speed from like a Camaro or Firebird. There is a really detailed thread already on the T-56 swap just search for it. A 6 speed would be more fun to drive IMO, but that's up to you and how much work you are willing to do and money you have to spend.

IMO the t56 would be much more fun to drive, but if you'd rather have an auto then the 4l80e definetly. The 700r4 isn't any better then the 4l60

Do you plan on using your truck as a daily driver or will it be used as a weekend toy? If it will be a daily driver, I think a 4L65E stage 5 transmission from Finish Line Transmissions would be best for you. Finish Line is a sponsor on this site....click on their link on the right side of the page. ---------> I would swap in a built T56 if you are going to use your truck as a toy. Overall, I think an auto would be eaiser to install and more reliable for the mods that you have planned.
