swapping transmission

swapping transmission
Will a trans from a 04 work on a 02 motor. I know that everything will bolt up, but is there a difference in the electronics? If it matters this is for a 4.8.
Also, anyone have a pic or great description of where the vin derivative is located on the block?
Edit: From looking at car-part.com, it seems to pull up different transmissions for the 4.8 than it does for the 5.3. Is there actually a difference, or is it just trying to match things perfectly?

The trans and its electronics will work just fine. I think yards do this to make sure you have an exact match as to what comes out of your vehicle. The only thing I see in some units is that the feed hole sizes in the separator plate might be slightly different. I would say you will be fine. If you don't like the way it shifts you can always add a shift kit and tune up the shifts. HTH Vince

I know that trailblazers have the 4l60e trans, but is the bellhousing/electronics/torque convertor size the same as a v8 if it is behind a 4.2. I know the TC will give me a better stall behind a v8, which will be better for me.
I have read a few threads over and people say that they bolt up, but want to make sure. What about programming them? Is there going to be any difference there?
