Default Suspension questions for stepside

I'm suppose to have smooth ride suspension on my 04 ec stepside. It's got two leafs with a overload spring. I've read litreddevil's thread about his suspension setup, and wonder if I still have to use the S10 leafs?
Will taking off the overload spring cause to much axle roll?
I don't have any stickys right now, but plan on getting some soon. Just looking for a little more Traction on the street. little better weight transfer.
Not planning on hauling much, but maybe 4wheeler r dirtbikes.

I'm wanting the rearend to squat more when I gas it. So Ive read about the S10 leafs being weaker

Ok I miss read the thread from litreddevil. Their not s-10 leafs their leafs off a v6 truck. I've got the smooth ride suspension.

Do I need to remove the the swaybar for better weight transfer? I took my new stocks off the rear & put worn out ones on & it didn't help.
I'm just looking for a cheap fix for now.

Remove the front swaybar and go to some S-10 overload springs. Soft shocks up front and stockers in the rear... You're not gonna do much without tires except spin... Clamping the rear leafs help as well.

Ok I remove the front swaybar & just removed the front shocks to try. Still no differents. Is the caltracs worth the money for the street? I'm looking into a new rim & tire combo, but just want my truck to look as stock as possible.

yes, caltracs are worth the money when set up right. your gonna have to experiment with the settings. and why does everybody want squat? lol. just for looks. what you really want is the front end to rise while the rear stays pretty even. good shocks all around will help. hopefully something adjustable. unhooking the swaybar is for the track, get some greasable bushings to help out while on the street. with your new rims and tires, keep a close eye on the weight. lighter is better. same goes for your truck while your at it. hope this helps and good luck with setup

True, when your rear squats when you launch, the suspension is soaking up some of the weight transfer. Like said, you want the front to rise and the rear to not squat at all so the contact patch of the tires gets maximum weight applied. Next time drag racing is on tv, watch the fast guys, it looks like the rear almost rises a tiny bit for a second, and the front rises more.
