Default Stock 80 converter

Any one running a stock 80 converter on they're setup? My 60 is done and i'm gonna spend all my extra moneys building the 80. So will it be another month or two till I can pony up the $$ for another triple disk from circle d. Think it will be ok to use a stocker, or should I just keep the truck parked till I can afford the right part?

A handful of guys here have put down some good power through stock converters. They seem to hold up to pretty good abuse.

The stall speed is pretty decent, around 2200 if not more depending on your mods but the stall torque ratio is horrible meaning the converter feels really loose. The 6.5 diesels used a different torque converter yet. My 80E came from a 6.5 diesel truck and I drove it with that converter for about 3 years and didn't have any real complaints. It had a stupid low stall but was nice and tight and held up well.

Man, the difference between my old PY3600 stall and the stock 80 converter was night and day, but the 3600 was a bit too loose for my liking. I'd like to get something in the 3000-3200 range. I'm just going to roll with the stock converter for now and see what happens.
