From the picture it looks like the clutch is fried in the converter. If you are going to lock the TCC @ WOT with that combo, I would seriously look into a multi disc converter. Single disc converters are just not designed to do this. Sucks to hear that you are still having issues here with this trans. Feel free to shoot me a pm if need be to discuss this. Vince

That's the thing. This converter has never been locked at WOT.

I just keep waxing my 2-3 clutches but I think it was in the tune, is it possible to burn these from your transbrake kit? The tranny was going into limp mode because I didnt have a code cancelled out so the tranny wouldn't shift into 3rd after using the transbrake... So my question is if my tranny is in limp mode not going into 3rd gear and it hits the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift can this fry my clutches? The only time it wouldn't shift into 3rd is when I used the tbrake, I could put it in regular drive and brake boost it off the line and every gear would shift just fine... I did email ya a few times and we omitted 2 codes out of the computer to keep it out of limp mode but I haven't got to run it yet... Sorry to hijack the thread lol

The transbrake valve body actually has multiple design features that ensure the 3rd gear clutches live. It can't however overcome tuning errors or improper installation. We have our units and customers who did thier own builds using our transbrake at over 1200 HP successfully and when i say that, I am not saying the trans lived for 10 passes, some are going on for over a year now without issue.

The bleed hole must be drilled in the direct drum for transbrake release and should be drilled there on any performance build anyway.

If you are hitting the limiter in 2nd, but it's not shifting or attempting to shift to 3rd, it shouldn't hurt the clutches.

The codes must be killed because the PCM sees the "short" in the B solenoid circuit when you activate the transbrake in low gear.

I don't really like the waffled clutches because the steels ALWAYS look like this to some degree on teardown on every unit I've ever taken apart even if everything appeared in order.
Some builders love those clutches but we do ours different.

The checkball tubs are usually like that, you can smooth them and use Torlon checkballs.

You probably need to address the 3rd gear circuit but not knowing how it's setup hydraulically I would be guessing.

Can a bad TCC lead to a direct clutch failure or vice versa?
