Default steering help

i took my truck to firestone to get a $150 lifetime alignment done, they called me about an hour later saying i should come talk with them. i get there and they give me the estimate, $1706.16. they said my truck needs a left hub assembly, right inner tierod end and new rack and pinion. they told me the tierod end will come with the rack and pinion but costs $525. i replaced the left hub assembly a little over a year ago, i will need to check my receipt and see if i have some sort of warranty on it before i buy another one. does anyone know where i can get the parts to fix my truck cheap? i will do all of the work to save the $700 in labor, i just need the parts.

Fisrt of all if it's the one of the trucks in your sig they don't have rack and pinions and the parts might cost you 500 at carquest or somewhere like that

ebay or PM Torque_Wrench on a price from GM, or even NAPA. I need to replace my inner tie rods also so I understand where you are coming from, do the work to save some cash.

Just make sure when you do get parts they are either GM or MOOG. I've been working parts full and part time at three auto parts stores and only O.E. or moog lasts long enough to keep you from doing the same replacements every year.

Your truck shouldn't have a rack and pinion. It should be the older style gear. I would get the parts from o'rielys or vato zone.

For a well experieced person, it should only take about 30 min. But you need to align it afterwards.
