Default Spacing out stock wheels?

Can it be done? How much can you get away with?
I can make any thickness spacer so getting them is not a problem.
I thought maybe pushing them out a half inch or a little less than that would give slightly better handling.
If I'm talking out my *** let me know!

how much you can get away will probably depend on how far your lug nuts thread onto the studs.

you could probably space them out 3/4" to 1", but get longer wheel studs. If you space an inch, get an inch longer wheel stud. If you space a 3/4", get 3/4" longer wheel stud.

Default Wheel spacers

Been thinking about the same thing, using adapters on the narrow back axle of my 2500. They recommend kits that widen the rear 2.5 inches to match front track.
Here's a couple links to manufacturers;

http://www.pumasales.com/product_category.asp?id=513

They're not cheap, $200-300

I did not realize that the real axle in your truck was norrower than the front. I wonder if the 1500 series is this way too? I'll have to pull out the tape and check.
Thanks for the links, those are some serious spacers on the sites. Gives me ideas on what to make. Looks like a good winter project.

You would be safe with 3/8 inch or so. Any more than that and the studs become weak due to the leverage agaist them is further out. You could more easily snap the studs during heavy cornering, potholes, or accelerating with wheel hop. The only safe way to do it more than that is with the wheel adapters above that have a new stud on them.
