Some final Qs before upgrading the rear...
#1
Tired of the one wheel peel of hell and shitty 3.42s gearing.... time to beef up the rear.
I've already decided to go with a Detroit Truetrac, but can't make up my mind on Yukon, Strange (US Gear), or Motive gears. Pros and cons of each brand? Which would you guys recommend? I will be going with a 4.10 ratio.
Using the search button
, I found out that I need 2 new bearing part # LM-603049 and also 2 new races part # LM-603012. Anything else I will need to complete the swap besides this and the diff fluid?
According to Detroit, the Trutrac doesn't required adding a LSD additive and will work fine with synthetic diff fluid. What are the pros and cons of running synthetic vs regular fluid?
Any suggestions, recomendations and comments appreciated.

clutches need the lsd additive...true trac has no clutches so no need for additive...syn oil will help with heat and friction brought on by the gears...i went with strange gears when i did a swap on one of my trucks awhile back ...everything went well tith them...

theres no differnce between the brand of gears, I've installed richmonds, motives, & US gears, if set up properly they are all the same, so get witchever one you want. The trutrac has no clutches so it doesnt need the additive

agreed. They are all good brands and as far as synthetic vs conventional, it doesn't really matter in the rear end. I'd put the synthetic in it if you can afford it. They come factory with synthetic now.

I've got the yukons and they have taken a lot of abuse...474rwhp, 4.56's, 5800lb truck...and they have been in for over a year. on the flip side, after i bought them, I couldn't find anything good about them (in print).
Good luck!
