All in the tune and cooler... I bought my truck brand new in 2011 and to this date have raced it damn near every week and weekend. I have been through a nitrous 5.3 setup, 5.3 turbo 10lb setup, a 6.2 10lb turbo setup, and finally my latest setup a fully built LSX 427 built for a lot of boost but currently on the bottle, and trans has held up perfectly fine. 150 shots in 4hi right off the line feel pretty good lol. Will it handle the power when I add the turbos hmmm, doubt it but we will see I would really like to see just how far i can take this stock trans. Also keep in mind I run 95% of the time in 4hi for traction so with 22s just imagine the abuse I put it through. Don't think anyone has been harder on there 6l80 then I have, I have blown up trans coolers and bled the trans dry several times and this thing just keeps on going. Hell recently my cooler in the radiator cracked and got coolant all in my trans fluid it was MILKY, drained it topped it off with fresh fluid still going! With a good tune and durable cooler these trans should hold up great. Tuning and heat management is everything with these 6l80s. My damn 6l80 so far has out lasted my motors lol

Mike from new era has been beating his too. He just did a rebuild only to find it was fine.

I am thinking about trading mine in on an 2011 just for that reason. Put all my crap on a newer truck and drive it for the next 6 years.

Lol yeah my 6l80 hasn't been in the best conditions but sure has handled them and kept going. Not just mine but all my buddies tuned with my friend Rick have also had great results with their 6l80s. Them not being easy on there trans either, I'm talking full slicks nitrous and constantly beating on there's every weekend too lol. Rick has been tuning on the 6l80s and perfecting his tunes since they came out so he's got them down pretty good. Don't know of anyone with his tune who has had any prob with there 6l80 come to think of it...

When you guys have your 6speeds tuned , do you eliminate the 2nd gear stars in normal mode ? Just kinda wondering what all is changed other than the usual shift timing and RPM ( unless there is a diff approach to these units).
